PA-115 - Practical Interprofessional Collaboration: Dental Professionals in Hospital Settings and Beyond
Sunday, March 15, 2020
2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Traditional roles of dental clinicians working in private practice may limit addressing issues in the modern health care landscape. Strong evidence links oral health to systemic health. Access to care, social determinants of health, health care costs and services delivered (safely) are all concepts that medicine has adopted and which dentistry must consider within our own scope of practice. This panel of professionals presents suggestions to develop partnerships with other stakeholders to incorporate dentistry within daily care in hospital and other non-traditional settings. Lessons learned, measurable outcomes and strategies of educational methodologies and assessment rubrics used in the experiences will be shared.
Develop community partnerships in non-traditional settings addressing access to care, social determinants of health and address systemic links to oral health.
Consider strategies to implement interprofessional collaborations in hospital and other nontraditional settings in delivery of care to patients.
