ET-106 - Remote Access Care in Education: Student Knowledge of Teledentistry
Monday, March 16, 2020
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
CE: 1
The internet has made the world smaller in many ways. Despite our digital achievements, the geographical barrier experienced by those at risk for dental disease stands. This session will focus on the student’s perception of teledentistry before and after participating in a simulation exercise intended to explore a teledental program called Teledent. The session will address the areas where teledentistry may be most useful, the students’ ability to manage the program, the response of the students post-simulation as compared to their expectations, and possible areas where, and how, teledentistry may be incorporated into dental education.
Learning Objectives:
Define teledentistry as it relates to telemedicine, and name which parts of the country are currently using teledentistry.
Describe the use of current teledentistry programs and how they are being used in permitted states.
Explain how teledentistry can be used in dental education and potentially implement use of teledentistry programs in their respective institutions.
