PE-113 - Closing Gaps in Geriatric Education Among Health Care Providers: A Pilot Study
Monday, March 16, 2020
2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
In this educational session, the focus is the connection between oral health and overall health of the vulnerable older adults. The purpose is recognizing the educational gaps in professional schools across health disciplines, leading to lack of collaboration later among health care providers. This pilot study will shed a light on the importance of interprofessional education and collaboration when treating vulnerable individuals with chronic disease, polypharmacy and cognitive decline (particularly those residing in long-term care facilities). After this session, participants will recognize the educational gaps and explore possibilities to overcome this serious elder health issue.
Define Interprofessional Education (IPE) and collaboration in the content of patient treatment.
Demonstrate the educational gaps in professional schools across health care disciplines.
Explain at what level of health care the gap forms in geriatric education.
