HA-100 - Building Policy-education Pathways: The Surgeon General's Report and National Health Objectives

This interactive workshop focuses on opportunities for educators to apply evidenced-based policies into curriculum from the forthcoming Surgeon General’s Report on Oral Health and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s (HHS) National Healthy People 2030 Objectives. The U.S. Public Health Service’s Chief Dental Officer and the Co-Chair of the HHS Secretary’s National Health Objectives Advisory Committee will describe recent progress as well as highlight key issues affecting community oral health. The panelists will articulate a future vision and provide educators with resources for improving oral health across the lifespan. This provocative and timely session will engage the audience to explore strategies that transform dental education and prepare 21st century health professionals.
Discuss oral health progress and dental public health issues addressed in the forthcoming Surgeon General’s Report on Oral Health and the National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Objectives for 2030.
Describe the dental education implications in addressing the national health goals through innovations in oral integration, workforce and interprofessional practice models.
