PE-107 - Telehealth-connected Teams and Oral Health: Are Dental Education Institutions Ready?
Tuesday, March 17, 2020
8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
CE: 1
With the growing use of teledentistry across the country, the need for dental students to graduate with an understanding of this emerging health-delivery model is more important than ever. With funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration, three institutions—University of the Pacific, New York University and A. T. Still University—have each developed unique programs in teledentistry in both pre-clinical and clinical settings. In this seminar, faculty from these three universities will discuss the current and future states of teledentistry, and how they are preparing students to be ready for this inevitable change in health care.
Learning Objectives:
Summarize the role of teledentistry within health care and the use of telehealth-connected teams to improve oral health.
Describe teledentistry curriculum at different universities.
Identify opportunities for teledentistry curriculum in other oral health programs.
