CE: 1
Cultural sensitivity is a necessary skill for ethical patient-centered care provided in a diverse environment. Students begin their educational journey somewhere along the pathway from ethnocentrism to tolerance to cultural humility and sensitivity. Self-awareness through reflective practice is a crucial skill for learning how to engage sensitively with people who are culturally diverse. Presenters will have five minutes to share innovations and best practices for facilitating personal and professional growth and guiding students along this pathway towards culturally sensitive practice. Presentations will target the professional and personal development needs of the student.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the developmental needs of students in gaining cultural sensitivity skills.
Identify developmentally appropriate methods for guiding students’ professional growth in cultural sensitivity.
Implement innovative methods for facilitating cultural sensitivity in the educational program.
