ET-102 - Discover Your E-learning Pathway: Curriculum Development With Emerging Technologies—Short Talks
Monday, March 16, 2020
10:30 AM – 11:30 AM
CE: 1
Five years ago, faculty at University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry began to recognize the changing landscape for learner-focused, educational content. They kicked off a university-wide e-learning initiative and encouraged faculty to incorporate emerging technologies into current teaching methods. Faculty contributed clinical, preclinical and basic science e-modules to the school's E-learning Gallery. This seminar will demonstrate the development, application and research of self-paced, interactive modules. Student and educational research projects, funded programming and curriculum development have driven the process.
Presenters will discuss integrating new technologies in dental pedagogy using best practices, objective and subjective student feedback and faculty development opportunities. Presentation format will include handouts and attachments for the audience.
Learning Objectives:
Identify opportunities using emerging technologies to collaborate with parent medical center or university and other dental educational institutions to develop e-learning modules for use across multiple curricula.
Understand the resources needed to support the development, application and evaluation of emerging technologies in the dental curriculum.
Identify methods to incrementally incorporate current best practices and emerging technologies into the dental curriculum.
