PE-101 - Delivering Bad News: A Framework for Interprofessional Education
Saturday, March 14, 2020
11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Interprofessional education (IPE) is a CODA standard. Healthcare professional students must have IPE experiences in their training. This is key to developing a collaborative, practice-ready workforce. You will learn how to use delivering bad news to standardized patients as an interprofessional education framework for dental and medical students and identify potential challenges in creating relevant collaborative scenarios for both disciplines. Additionally, you will review a logistical map to help guide your future IPE initiatives. Two of the presenters are physicians and one of the presenters is a dentist. All are faculty members in their respective academic health center.
Apply the framework of delivering bad news concepts to IPE learning.
Identify challenges and solutions to developing real life IPE collaborative scenarios among various health professions.
Utilize the IPE mapping tool to initiate preliminary drafts of an IPE program.
