Tuesday, March 17, 2020

As our appreciation and awareness of diversity continues to grow, training culturally competent dentists has become an increasingly important goal. Creating a welcoming environment for our diverse student and patient populations are equally important. In this program, attendees will see a bi-coastal comparison of what is being done to address these issues at University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry and Medical University of South Carolina James B. Edwards College of Dental. Participants will learn how cultural competency is addressed at their respective institutions and what they do to create a more inclusive environment.
Describe the importance of inclusivity in dental education.
Identify two ways that inclusive practices benefit patient care.
Make collegial connections to support and foster greater inclusivity in their teaching.
