PA-123 - Identifying Competencies for Dental Educators: Let’s Begin the Conversation—Short Talks
Monday, March 16, 2020
4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
CE: 1
Much work has gone into developing competencies for the dental graduate. Maybe it is time to develop a list of competencies for the dental educator. As most dental faculty have not had formal training in teaching and learning, teaching expertise is often gained via on the job training, faculty development experiences and independent learning. Coming to a consensus regarding essential skills—i.e., competencies—will help dental faculty find their path towards becoming a competent educator. This short talks seminar will be an important step to hear from ADEA educators on their views of core teaching skills.
Learning Objectives:
Describe a set of specific skills for dental educators.
Create a path to consensus regarding essential skills.
Develop a plan for further study of dental educator competencies.
