Sunday, March 15, 2020
12:10 PM – 12:30 PM

In 2017, the University of the Pacific Dental Hygiene program in Stockton physically moved to the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. The move posed many challenges as well as unique opportunities to integrate a stand alone dental hygiene program within a dental school. The integrated clinic was developed with a clear goal of integrating dental hygiene students and dental students in a collaborative educational model. The goals for the integrated clinic are to provide a collaborative recare appointment with an emphasis on communication, patient management, co-diagnosis, risk assessment and delivery of preventive care.
Learning Objectives:
Describe how a dental hygiene program was integrated into a dental school environment with a collaborative educational model.
Apply concepts of the collaborative educational model into clinical educational curriculum.
Appraise the use of a collaborative educational model integrating a dental hygiene program within a dental school setting.
