PE-105 - Rapid Rounds: Improving Faculty Teamwork and Student Outcomes
Monday, March 16, 2020
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
CE: 1
Rapid rounds (RR) are opportunities for interprofessional health teams to meet daily and review patients’ plans of care. This type of efficient and effective interprofessional collaboration and communication has been well documented in the literature to improve the quality and safety of patient care.
Participants will see the application of the medical model of RR to a dental hygiene university program to improve faculty collaboration, teamwork, communication and calibration for improved student outcomes and clinical experiences. Participants will learn how RR has helped isolated, part-time clinical instructors feel included in the larger team of clinical instructors.
Learning Objectives:
Identify the structure and content of rapid rounds in the context of patient care.
Recognize rapid rounds as an educational and quality assurance tool for improved faculty cohesiveness and student outcomes.
Apply the dental hygiene rapid rounds model to a fictitious case.
