Throughout the health professions, there is a high attrition rate among early career educators during the first five years on faculty. In response, ADEA developed the Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders. The mission of the program is to prepare early career faculty with the acumen and skills needed to build successful careers. This program will highlight participants from the first eight years of the program and how they transitioned from developing their careers, into alumni of the ADEA Leadership Institute and leaders in academic dentistry.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the leadership concerns of early career faculty.
Assess how the ELP can support the needs of early career faculty in dental academia.
Summarize the pipeline from the ELP to the Leadership Institute and how it may benefit faculty at their institution and program.
