3D printing and digital workflow is being utilized in dentistry more and more, especially for implant planning and CAD/CAM dentistry. This program will cover different methods of using intraoral and optical scanning techniques, using softwares to manipulate digital files, 3D printing techniques, fabricating surgical guides and final restorations using CAD/CAM technology. You will learn about how this workflow is being utilized at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry and their patient outcome.
Learning Objectives:
Explain the usage of digital workflow in treatment planning and implant placement for restorative dentistry.
Outline how STL files are manipulated through various softwares and used to plan treatments for natural dentition and dental implants.
Describe how predoctoral students are utilizing CAD/CAM technology, scanners and 3D printers for patient care.
