PA-104 - Promoting Personalized Pathways in Cariology Learning

This session will discuss strategies that facilitate learning environments that can help students explore different paths to competency in modern caries management. It will provide an overview of learning and assessment strategies and examples of supporting learning-management systems that increase students’ sense of competence and autonomy, with the resulting potential to improve learning and performance. Cariology will be used as an example. The session will also provide an interactive opportunity for attendees to develop a Gameful Learning plan for their courses.
Learning Objectives:
Define implementation concepts of “Gameful learning” into teaching of cariology, as well as be familiar with examples of learning-management systems to facilitate implementation.
Facilitate the transfer of evidence-based research data into the teaching and practice of cariology concepts.
Describe how specific concepts of cariology teaching can be integrated across an interprofessional education program.
