The position of dean of a dental school has become more open to underrepresented minorities and women over the past 10 years. Challenges remain to remove barriers for qualified candidates aspiring to upper administration, as well as cultures that are not supportive to their success upon entering the job. This session will explore successful career paths to administration, describe barriers to success and discuss ways to overcome those barriers.
Learning Objectives:
Discuss successful pathways to upper administration.
Review barriers that remain for inclusion of underrepresented minorities and women in upper administrative positions.
Suggest solutions to removing barriers to upper administration for underrepresented minorities and women.
