Fixed Prosthodontics is an integral part of the dental curriculum, and the ability to take an optimal final impression or digital scan improves the chances of restorative success. This session will focus on teaching strategies to ensure that students achieve quality impressions and scans in an organized, efficient and predictable manner. Participants will learn a simple pneumonic device they may use as a teaching tool in their fixed prosthodontic courses. The pneumonic, "Have you HIRD?" stands for (H)emostasis, (I)solation, (R)etraction and (D)irections. Each step is critical to restorative success and will be discussed in detail during the session.
Learning Objectives:
Empower students to work independently and be better prepared for final impressions and digital scans.
Teach students alternative materials and techniques from the proposed teaching methodology.
Guide students to achieve successful and predictable impression and digital scanning results.
