PC-104 - Using Mobile Technology for Person-centered Pain Management, Research and Education
Tuesday, March 17, 2020
8:30 AM – 9:30 AM
The U.S. federal advisory committee on pain management advocates individualized, person-centered (PC) care to improve the lives of pain patients and to decrease opioid dependency and overdose deaths. The focus of our workshop is to demonstrate how PC pain management is supported by the use of University of Michigan School of Dentistry's 3D mobile, pain-tracking app, GeoPain, which provides artificial-intelligence-enabled monitoring of symptoms in real-time as well as treatment efficacy. Activities include tracking pain activity, analyzing individual and group response to therapy and defining patient discussion approaches for authentic clinical scenarios. In addition, participants will determine how GeoPain can help address CODA-accreditation standards.
Define person-centered care and identify components of such care in the management of pain patients.
Demonstrate how a mobile pain tracking app can support person-centered care.
Use a mobile pain tracking app to address CODA competencies related to person-centered care.
