Virtual reality (VR) is an area of emerging technology that educators want to incorporate in the classroom to engage students and enhance collaborative learning. But what are the pitfalls in the path to implementation? Faculty experiences and lessons learned while implementing VR technology into the dental curriculum will be presented. Participants will learn about strategies for scholarship, interdepartmental and institutional collaboration, corporate partnerships and funding opportunities. Barriers to success and ways to overcome them will be identified. Participants will brainstorm how to acquire and use new skillsets to incorporate VR at their own institutions.

Describe concepts in virtual reality (VR) and application in dental curriculum.
Identify challenges of implementing VR into the dental curriculum.
Identify strategies to overcome pitfalls in the implementation process.
