Session Description: This session introduces the importance of providing comprehensive, person-centered care for LGBTQ individuals. Consistent with core accreditation requirements, the focus of this session is on the development of a humanistic and culturally sensitive environment that is welcoming, nurturing and values the expressed preferences of LGBTQ individuals seeking care. The session will also address contextual factors that exist when providing care to LGBTQ individuals and related challenges that can lead to miscommunication and health inequity. Crucial information regarding the use of culturally competent assessments to evaluate the overall health of LGTBQ individuals will be shared with session attendees.
