The ADEA Compendium of Clinical Competency Assessment (“ADEA Compendium”) is a system being developed to provide a valid and reliable assessment of psychomotor skills and relevant patient care knowledge, skills and abilities. The ADEA Compendium is best characterized as an array of longitudinal clinical assessments occurring within a dental school or program’s assessment plan. The ADEA Compendium is intended to serve as standardized ongoing demonstration of faculty calibration and student competency performance and as one of the available clinical assessments for initial licensure.
Learning Objectives:
Describe the key features of the ADEA Compendium of Competency Assessment.
List the advantages of the ADEA Compendium for the school and students as compared to a single encounter, procedure based examination on patients as a pathway to licensure.
Discuss critical components of competency validity and reliability.
