Osteotomies to Manage Patellar Luxation
This laboratory introduces participants already familiar with bone plating to the principles of proximal tibia osteotomies (PTO) and distal femoral osteotomies (DFO) for the treatment of patellar luxation and allows participants to perform the procedures during the dry lab. The instructors review CORA based methodology for deformity corrections associated with patellar luxation, case selection based on preoperative planning from radiographs or CT scans, and complications through clinical case examples. There is a brief introduction to the FIXIN locking plate system. The participants are also able to recognize situations that require adjunctive procedures. During the lab, 10 two-person stations are made available to participants to practice the correction of deformities using plastic bones modeled on real clinical cases.
