For a lot of new Diplomates negotiating their first “real job” can be daunting. This seminar focuses on the broad topic of negotiation and what strategies might be most effective in getting you the job that is the best fit for you. We review different approaches to negotiation and bring in material from outside the veterinary industry as well as incorporate industry-specific dynamics. We touch upon key pieces in an employee contract from the “lay person’s” perspective and the effective use of legal expertise. Finally, learn how to evaluate an offer so that you are comparing and contrasting similar components, which can be very complicated when bringing in additional factors such as benefits and production calculations.
