These lectures seek to introduce human orthopedic experience in fracture care to the veterinary audience. The aim is to provide an overview of fracture care for the hip, the knee, and the ankle. An additional objective is to stimulate discussion about similarities and differences between human and veterinary care.
To fully understand the complexities of human fracture treatment in the lower limbs, hip fractures are discussed in a bimodal manner—paying particular attention to elderly and young, high energy injuries. Injuries of the knee are discussed with particular attention given to epiphyseal fractures. An overview of ankle fractures is provided.
