Osteosarcoma, though quite rare in humans, is much more common in canine patients. Regardless of the host, survival depends almost entirely on the presence or absence of pulmonary metastases. Kurt Weiss, MD, explores the importance of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) in osteosarcoma metastatic biology, and questions if ALDH inhibition might represent a novel therapeutic strategy against osteosarcoma metastases for all patients.
