Following graduation from the University of Cambridge, Melanie initially worked in general practice, during which time she undertook the RCVS Certificates in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and Veterinary Cardiology. She then completed a small animal rotating internship and a PhD in canine mitral valve disease, both at the Royal Veterinary College. She was awarded the DACVIM (Cardiology) in 2016 following a Residency in Veterinary Cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania. Her research interests include the clinical use of biomarkers and the investigation of cardiac remodelling in response to heart disease.
