The science of empathy in medicine reveals that empathic communication is vital to patient satisfaction. Empathy is also integral in helping close the gap between providers’ and patients’ goals. Furthermore, empathic providers have greater job satisfaction and less burnout. This “In the Rheum” presentation will address how to use empathic communications in clinical practice.
