Psychiatric comorbidity is prevalent in patients with childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE), with potential for adverse impact on clinical and psychosocial outcomes. Optimal care involves identification of patients at risk for psychiatric disorders and utilizing a standardized approach that may be tailored to the address the needs of individual patients with cSLE. This session will discuss evidence describing the prevalence, risk factors and impact of psychiatric comorbidity for patients with cSLE, as well as strategies for mental health intervention.
