There is some limited data on various nutritional and dietary approaches to rheumatic conditions. Furthermore, training and evidence based approaches to guide patients with rheumatic disease are extremely lacking for the rheumatologist. This session will feature faculty who are experts in this arena. The first discussion will focus on intermittent fasting and benefits for long-term longevity with particular focus on patients with rheumatic disease. Next the discussion will include a review of ideal diets for patients with autoimmune disease as well as examine dietary patterns that effect rheumatic disease risk as well as disease activity. Finally, the session ends with a review of the literature with respect to evidence based guide to the use of complementary medicine and supplements in patients with rheumatic disease.
