Dennis Hammond, MD, is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He received his MD and undergraduate education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; his combined general surgery and plastic surgery training at the Grand Rapids Area Medical Center also in Michigan. He completed 2 Fellowships; the first in Aesthetic & Reconstructive Surgery of the breast and the second in Hand and Microsurgery. His primary areas of specialization are: aesthetic breast surgery, breast reconstruction and revisionary breast surgery and body contouring. As a widely requested international speaker, Dr. Hammond is in continual demand to lecture at peer-level conferences worldwide and in the U.S. He designed and developed the SPAIR short scar breast reduction technique; has developed and marketed his own tissue expander for breast reconstruction, developed the internationally utilized BodyLogic evaluation system used for implant sizing in breast augmentation and has participated in nearly every known breast implant study since 1990.
He has authored numerous publications and book chapters, co-edited two textbooks on breast surgery, has authored his own Atlas of Aesthetic Breast Surgery and he continues to pursue an active clinical and research interest in every aspect of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery.
