Anne C Mosenthal, MD, FACS is the Chief Academic Officer at Lahey Hospital Medical Center and Academic Dean at Tufts University School of Medicine. Prior to this, she was Professor and Benjamin F Rush Jr Endowed Chair of Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School for over nine years.
Dr Mosenthal is a leader in academic surgery, nationally recognized as a trauma surgeon and surgical intensivist. A pioneer in the field of surgical palliative care, she has developed innovative programs integrating palliative care into critical care, trauma, and surgery. Her scholarly work has focused on surgical palliative care, trauma in the elderly, and critical care outcomes, and she is the editor of the book Surgical Palliative Care, from Oxford University Press.
Dr Mosenthal is Chair of the American College of Surgeons Committee for Surgical Palliative Care, a member of their Board of Governors and of the Ethics Committee. She is the Chair of the AAST Ad Hoc Committee on Palliative Care.
As an educator and mentor, she is highly regarded for her commitment to developing the next generation of leaders in academic medicine, particularly women and other under-represented groups. She is the recipient of numerous awards, among them the Olga Jonasson Distinguished Member Award from the Association of Women Surgeons, the Council of Deans Fellowship from the American Association of Medical Colleges, and the American Medical Association Women Phsyicians Section Inspirational PHysician Award
