Mary Edwards recieved her undergraduate degree from the US Military Academy at West Point and her Medical Degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Healthy Science in 1996. She completed her General Surgery residency at the Brooke Army Medical Center in 2001 and her Pediatric Surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine in 2004. She served as chief of pediatric surgery surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center and San Antonio Military Medical Center, and as the general surgery residency program director at San Antonio Military Medical Center. She has 3 combat deployments, earning the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal. She retired from the Army in 2017 after 26 years of service. She currently sits on the American Board of Surgery's Pediatric Surgery Board. At Albany Medical Center she also serves as the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director and the Surgical Champion for Pediatric NSQIP.
