Brown University-Rhode Island Hospital
My name is Alice Piccinini, MD and I am currently a general surgery PGY2 resident at the Rhode Island Hospital-Alpert Medical School at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.
I earned my medical degree at University of Bologna School of Medicine in Italy. After graduation I moved to USA and joined the Trauma and Acute Care Surgery department at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical center as a research fellow. During this period my research was focused on TBI management, non operative management of solid organ inujries in penetrating trauma and DVT prophylaxis in solid organ injuries.
During residency I continued to dedicate myself to research, with the long term plan to pursue an academic career. My long-term plan is to eventually become a trauma surgeon. During my trauma rotation I witnessed the major impact a set of skilled hands can have on a patient. Ultimately, I would like to be the change in another’s person life for the better.
