BIndi Naik-Mathuria, MD, MPH is an associate professor of surgery and pediatrics (pediatric surgery) at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Naik-Mathuria is the Trauma Medical Director of the Level I pediatric trauma center at Texas Children's Hospital. She grew up in Kenya and moved to Houston during high school. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio, TX and Texas A+M Medical School. She then trained in general surgery and surgical critical care at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX and pediatric surgery at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles/USC in Los Angeles, CA. She then completed her public health training at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School. Dr. Naik-Mathuria is a former Future Trauma Leader of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. She is actively involved in leadership and committees of the Pediatric Trauma Society, and recently completed her term on the executive board. Dr. Naik-Mathuria is the co-editor of the textbook Pediatric Trauma (2nd edition), the leading textbook in the field. She also contributes to pediatric trauma topics for UpToDate. She is an avid clinical researcher, and pediatric pancreatic trauma has been a primary research focus for her throughout her career. Finally, she is the proud mother of two children, ages 7 and 11.
