The Silence narrates the 30 years’ struggle of fifteen “comfort women”—former sex slaves by the Imperial Japanese Army during WWII—for recognition and reparation. It is a vivid and down-to-earth testimony of the comfort women history, in a documentary which took Director Park 20 years to make in Japan.
