Director, Clean Energy Initiative
Garry is Director of the Clean Energy Initiative of the Climate program of National Audubon Society (https://climate.audubon.org). See our science report on the impacts of climate on 389 species of birds in N. America. He oversees a team of 3 to provide resources to the Audubon Network of 27 state offices, 465 chapters and 36 nature centers on statewide and regional clean energy planning, individual utility-scale projects and federal and state permitting policies for wind, solar, storage and transmission with the dual goal to provide for conservation of birds and the places birds need now and in the future as well as rapid deployment of clean energy. His collaborations with the industry include his role as Chair of the Wind & Wildlife Institute (www.awwi.org), his role representing Audubon in the Avian Solar Work Group (www.aviansolar.org), in RWSE (Renewable Wildlife Science Entity for Offshore Wind in the Atlantic), POWER (Pacific Offshore Wind Energy Research Group) and with federal agencies in the Condor/Wind Working Group and Golden Eagle Working Group for Region 8 and others. When not spending time with his 7-year old grandson Garry goes birding around the world adding to his world list of over 7,500 species seen out of the 10,000+ species in the world.
