Justin Krebs, PhD, is a Senior Technical Director and Offshore Wind Program Manager at AKRF, Inc., an environmental consulting, planning and engineering firm based in New York City and Baltimore, MD. Dr. Krebs is a fish ecologist with 20 years of experience in the areas of fisheries and fish habitat, estuarine and coastal ecology, underwater acoustics, and endangered species consultation. He has evaluated underwater noise during pile driving and in-water demolition activities, and the impacts of those activities to fishes and sea turtles for over 20 projects, many of which involved NEPA EA and EIS documents. Dr. Krebs routinely coordinates with state and federal resource agencies, including the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the National Marine Fisheries Service during Endangered Species Act and Essential Fish Habitat consultations. He is currently working on several offshore wind projects and has conducted acoustic modeling of underwater noise associated with the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm and the impacts of these activities on fish, sea turtles, and marine mammals.
