Kirshner-Rodriguez has been a leader in government and community relations for more than 25 years. She has managed federally funded programs, built and directed national and state coalitions and regularly designed effective advocacy and communications strategies. Her professional experience includes government appointments in Sacramento, San Francisco and Washington DC, including almost eight years in the Clinton Administration as a Deputy Assistant Secretary with Andrew Cuomo at the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and with Robert Reich at the US Department of Labor. She also served for four years as Director of Government Relations for then Mayor Gavin Newsom in San Francisco and as Executive Director of the CA Commission on the Status of Women & Girls from 2014-2018.
Kirshner Rodriguez is also a partner at Synergy Public Affairs, www.synergypublicaffairs.com and remains a committed civic leader. Kirshner-Rodriguez served as President of the San Francisco Commission on the Status of Women she worked to create the international Cities for CEDAW Campaign and champion local initiatives to reduce domestic violence and human trafficking; improve gender equality and advance girls’ services. Nancy currently serves on the Board of the National Council of Jewish Women SF, as the treasurer of Californians Dedicated to Education Foundation and on the National Leadership Council of Futures without Violence. She served as Board Treasurer of Emerge America, dedicated to training and electing women to office and on the San Francisco Jewish Community Relations Council. Kirshner-Rodriguez graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She received the Alumnae Medal of Honor for her years of service to the college. She now resides in San Rafael, CA with her husband Sam, daughter Kira and their dog Kona.
