Director, Offshore Wind Energy Graduate Program
Eric Hines, PhD, PE: Eric Hines is the founding principal of Hines & Partners, LLC, a consulting firm focused on engineering solutions for the offshore wind industry. He directs the Offshore Wind Energy Graduate Program and coordinates the Power Systems and Markets Research Group at Tufts University, where he is the Kentaro Tsutsumi Professor of the Practice. Dr. Hines has over 20 years of experience designing innovative infrastructure and large-scale testing. Major projects include the Wind Technology Testing Center in Charlestown, MA, the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal, Beijing’s Yin Tai Center, structural testing for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Span Seismic Safety Project, and the physics-based digital twins for the Block Island Wind Farm. His award-winning innovations have been recognized both by the American Concrete Institute and the American Institute of Steel Construction. He studied engineering and public policy as an undergraduate at Princeton University and as a Fulbright Fellow in Stuttgart, Germany. He holds an M.S.E. in applied mechanics and a Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
