Sr. Director of Quality, Sterilization & Microbiology
Phil Cogdill is currently the Sr. Director of Sterilization and Microbiology QA at Medtronic-Minimally Invasive Therapies Group where he is responsible for the strategic development and operational implementation of microbiological concerns including sterilization, biocompatibility and device cleanliness.
He has held managerial positions at Covidien, Boston Scientific, ViroMed Laboratories and W.L. Gore and Associates in the areas of microbiology, biocompatibility and sterilization. He holds Bachelors of Sciences in Microbiology and Chemistry from Northern Arizona University and an MBA in Management from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
He is a Medtronic Technical Fellow, Immediate Past Chairman of AAMI Board of Directors, Director of the AAMI Foundation Board, Member of the Sterilization Steering Committee, Co-Chair of Working Group 05 - Sterilization terminology; past co-Chair of the AAMI Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Working Group; and serves on a number of other ISO Technical Committee 198, 194 and 121 working groups.
