Vice President, Sustainability & EHS
BD
Ellen leads BD’s Corporate Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) group, ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for the company’s 65,000 associates, and environmentally sound practices for the communities in which BD operates. She is also responsible for BD’s Global Product Stewardship function and the data systems and processes to ensure compliance with product-related environmental regulations and customer requirements.
Ellen also leads BD’s Sustainability program, working closely with leaders across the company’s business units, regions and functions to integrate sustainability into the company’s strategy and culture. She is responsible for monitoring emerging ESG (environmental, social, governance) trends and ensuring policies, management systems and processes are in place to meet new and emerging requirements.
Ellen has been with BD for 14 years and held roles across EHS and Sustainability prior to her appointment as leader of the combined Sustainability & EHS function, which also includes BD's Sterilization Center of Excellence. Before joining BD, she held an EHS role at a specialty chemicals company.
Ellen holds an M.S. in Sustainability Management from Columbia University in New York and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Rutgers University in New Jersey. She is based in Franklin Lakes, NJ.
