Policy Analyst, Climate & Clean Energy Program
Natural Resources Defense Council
Arjun Krishnaswami is an analyst with NRDC’s Climate and Clean Energy program, whose mission is to advocate for federal, state, and local policies to swiftly decarbonize the U.S. economy in a just and equitable way.
Arjun uses modeling and analysis to design and support policy solutions that accelerate the clean energy transition, focusing on policy at the federal level and in the western states. His work has included comparing federal power sector policy approaches to inform proactive and defensive federal advocacy, modeling the effects of renewable energy standards in the West to support legislative campaigns, and analyzing the economic impact of clean energy development in the rural Midwest.
Arjun has also led the development of NRDC’s clean energy innovation policy platform. He advocates for increased funding and expanded authority for Department of Energy programs to address emerging problems of the U.S. energy system, including grid modernization, increasingly intermittent power supply, and the need for rapid electrification of transportation, buildings, and industrial facilities.
Prior to working at NRDC, Arjun worked on the energy-water nexus at the World Resources Institute and modeled hydrologic systems to understand the interactions between climate change, land use, and water resources. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental systems engineering and a master’s in civil and environmental engineering from Stanford University.
