Senior Systems Engineer, Energy Storage Technology Solution
Mir Ziyad Ali held positions in engineering, business development, sales, and operations in Power Generation in the US, UK, Singapore, and Bangladesh.
Ziyad started his career in industrial and commercial Power Generation in emergency and backup generation for Islanding application in mission critical environment. He has designed and built over 370 Power Generation and Propulsion plants using high speed diesel engines to Aero-derivative Gas turbines before successfully transition to renewable energy space. Ziyad has committed himself to build a sustainable energy world for the future and has designed and built USA’s largest Lithium based Battery Storage system in 2016 which is also recognized the only battery system in the world to Blackstart a heavy frame Gas Turbine and a High Voltage Transmission line in 2017.
Ziyad previously held engineering positions in Cummins Inc., Caterpillar Inc., ZBB Energy (now Ensync), Rolls Royce Energy Systems, General Electric Power and Water, General Electric Energy Storage in Systems and Controls Design in Diesel, Heavy Frame & Aero Derivative Gas Turbines, Flow Battery, Lead Acid and Lithium Battery technologies. Ziyad is a Subject Matter Expert in Battery Storage System Design and has over 10 years of experience in Energy Storage industry.
Currently, Ziyad leads the Energy Storage System and Plant design for E.ON Energy Storage Technical Solutions team for the design and engineering of energy storage assets for utility scale applications. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Colorado at Boulder.
