Opioid addiction/overdose is the major public health epidemic in the United States and the numbers have been staggering. The prescription opioid death epidemic has shifted with a dramatic increase in deaths due to fentanyl and fentanyl analogues in recent years. This session will discuss the epidemiological aspects of opioid overdose epidemic and outline effective pharmacologic and behavioral treatments for opioid use disorder and opioid overdoses. Expert faculty will also discuss improving access to treatment and recovery services and strengthening public health surveillance.
