This session will review the evidence that: 1) sleep problems are prevalent in those with chronic pain; 2) sleep and pain are reciprocally related; and 3) cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for insomnia helps with sleep as well as with pain. The causal factors for insomnia in those with chronic pain and what components of CBT for insomnia address these factors will also be discussed. The session will conclude with a discussion of the evidence for CBT for insomnia in those with varied pain conditions.
