Graduated from SUNY Upstate Medical University. Completed residency at West Virginia University. After working in public and private sector for a number of years made a mid-career change and completed Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Medical University of South Carolina. Subsequently completed a research post-doc, was awarded a K12 mentored career-development award and joined the faculty. Until recently I was the medical director of the Substance Treatment and Recovery program at the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC, co-located with MUSC. Have provided training and supervision of medical students, residents, and addiction psychiatry fellows. Have won several awards as a clinical educator. Currently working on various opioid initiatives from MUSC, Director of MUSC's Project ECHO, and involved in a variety of research projects.
