Matthew Hermes is a doctoral student and graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Health, Sport, and Exercise Sciences at the University of Kansas, working in the Jayhawk Athletic Performance Laboratory under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Fry. He received his undergraduate and master’s degrees from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where he was a member of the football team. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and USA Weightlifting (USAW). Current investigations include performance responses to training and accentuated eccentric loading. His research interests span the realms of exercise physiology and strength and conditioning and include areas such as weightlifting, exercise training modalities, and adaptations to training.
