Medical Student - Year 4, University of North Texas Health Science Center

Aisha Gillan graduated Cum Laude from The University of Texas at Dallas with her Bachelor of Science in both Neuroscience and Business Administration. She is currently a fourth year medical student at the UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas and hopes to pursue a residency in Psychiatry. During her time at this institution, she served as Vice-President of the Psychiatry Club and raised multiple awareness and volunteer events revolving around mental health, mental illnesses, and the importance of self-care. Within the realm of Psychiatry she has a particular interest in the pathophysiology and neurobiology of mental illnesses, as well as the presentation of known medical conditions with psychiatric symptoms. This will be her second case study in that scope, the first focusing on a catatonic patient that was found to be so secondary to benzodiazepine withdrawal.
