Cynthia Geppert, MD, MA, MPH, MSBE, DPS, MSJ is Chief of Consultation Psychiatry and Ethics the New Mexico Veterans Affairs Health Care System and acting health care ethicist at the Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for Ethics in Health Care. She is also Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Internal Medicine and Director of Ethics Education at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine as well as Adjunct Professor of Bioethics at Alden March Bioethics Institute Albany Medical College. Dr. Geppert is board certified in general psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, and addiction medicine and holds credentials in pain management. She holds master’s degrees in religious ethics and health and hospital law masters and doctoral degrees in bioethics. Dr. Geppert’s research interests are in religious and clinical ethics, addiction ethics, ethics education and consultation and she has written over 200 articles, chapters and other writings in these areas.
