Jose Aguilar, Jr, MD

Assistant Clinical Professor, University of California, Riverside School of Medicine

Dr. Aguilar earned his M.D. from the David Geffen School of Medicine through the UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program and conducted his residency at the UCLA/San Fernando Valley Psychiatry Residency Training Program in Los Angeles, serving as chief resident of medical student education. He is currently an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry and neuroscience at the UC Riverside School of Medicine, and attending psychiatrist and co-director of the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation service at Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage, CA. His clinical interests include disorders of depression, bipolar, anxiety, addiction, and trauma. He also provides psychotherapy using a combination of theories, tailored to each individual’s needs in a patient-centered approach, which include psychodynamic, Jungian, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and supportive therapies. He has expertise on human sexuality, sexual disorders, ethnic and cultural issues, and LGBT issues, with special focus on Transgender health issues. He is a member of the Academy of Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association, Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists, the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association and the Southern California Lambda Medical Association and is board certified in Psychiatry as well as in Addiction Medicine.
